This article describes how to create Entities inside Enrich.
What is an Entity
An Entity is the main information unit in inriver. When you create an Elastic data model, you organize your data into different types of Entities and define relations between them, known as Links.
The system settings in Control Center determine what kind of Entity types exist in your data model. For example, in the core inriver data model, the three most common types of Entities are Product, Item, and Resource.
How to create an Entity
The method of creating a new Entity applies to all Entity types, but the types of available Entities depend on the data model set up by your organization in Control Center. Ask your administrator or super users about your organization's process around creating Entities, such as Products and Items.
Inside Enrich
do the following:
- Click (Create new entity) on the top navigation bar.
The menu opens.
- Select the type of Entity you want to create from the available types. For example, Item.
The Create {Entity type} modal opens.
- Fill out the Fields for the Entity.
Different Entity types will have different Fields according to your data model. Mandatory Fields will be indicated by *.
- Click Save when you are done.
A Work Area opens containing your new Entity. To continue enriching your new Entity, make sure to save the Entity in a static Work Area by opening the Work Area menu and selecting Save.
Adding comments to an Entity
You must have appropriate user permissions to be able to add, edit, or delete comments on Entities.
If you want your colleagues to know something about a particular Entity, you can add comments to it using the View and add comments option.
In Enrich > {Entity} Overview tab
- Click (View and add comments) on the Entity toolbar.
The Comments for {Entity} modal opens, where you can add new comments and view previous comments for this Entity.
From this area, you can also delete any comments made on the Entity or the entire comments thread.
- Enter a comment using the available space.
Click Post comment when you are done.
Entities with comments are marked with a notification symbol.
You cannot tag people in the comments. If you want to assign a task to your coworkers, see Task and Collaboration in inriver.
