Inriver’s latest monthly product release is now live, offering you new ways to get the most from your product information and your PIM. In October’s update, we’re:
- Spotlighting the advancements bringing flexibility to your syndication strategy
- Accelerating your Shopify integrations with a new adapter
- Making Expression Engine coding effortless with the power of an AI co-pilot
- Streamlining operational efficiency with a new visual workflow builder
- Speeding the import of complex data sets with new Content Onboarding features
Here’s everything that’s new for your business this month:
Spotlight on Flexible Syndication
Inriver syndication is levelling up! Successful syndication requires a solution that’s not only efficient and effective at distributing content in the right formats but is also equipped to deal with the full complexity of your product data. In other words, you need syndication that’s as adaptable as your product data itself.
We’ve introduced Syndicate Advance to simplify and scale the distribution of trusted product content across an ever-expanding network of endpoints. Instead of forcing you to choose a single method of distribution, Syndicate Advance embraces the complexity of syndication and offers a flexible network approach: direct integrations, partner-powered endpoints, and file-based delivery all working together. It’s all about finding the most efficient way to deliver your centralized, enriched product information to every place it needs to go.
This month we’re adding support for email syndication – because not every distribution partner is ready for API-based data sharing or direct integrations. And, to give you confidence that you’re sharing the right data, right from the start, we’ve also introduced a smoother user experience for pre-syndication validation. Find out more in our Syndicate Advance Product Deep Dive.
Fast-Track Your Shopify Integration
Shopify powers millions of storefronts worldwide, and we’ve made it easier than ever to connect your Inriver PIM to this leading commerce platform. Spend less time managing data and more time driving growth with the new Inriver Shopify adapter.
This packaged connection automates how your PIM data flows to Shopify, so your product content stays consistent, complete, and ready to convert. It eliminates tedious manual uploads and error-prone updates that slow teams down. Find out more about the adapter’s features and benefits as well as how to install it here.
AI Makes Enrichment Automation Effortless
Writing Expressions to automate your product enrichment just got easier, faster and more accurate with our in-context AI agent to support you in optimizing your formulas.
We’ve been consistently delighted by the rate at which the Inriver community has embraced the endless flexibility of Expression Engine since we launched it in 2024. However, it can be tricky for non-technical team members to get the formulas right when the pace of change in commerce requires increasingly complex data transformations.
The new, built-in AI co-pilot turns every member of your team into expression-writing experts overnight. Simply describe what you want in plain language, and the Agent will generate, explain, and validate your formula in seconds. It all happens in context, right where you’re working on automation logic – in the Inriver portal or Control Center.
Beyond saving time, the Agent can also improve data quality by helping eliminate errors and validating outputs before expressions go live. And because no coding skills are required, you can get more of your team involved in creating expressions. Learn more in our how-to guide.
The Agent is available to all Inriver customers who’ve licensed Inspire. Please contact your CSM to enable this feature in your environment.
You can expect to see more of these contextual AI tools appearing in the Inriver platform over the coming months, as part of our goal of enhancing usability for all role types and making the best use of AI throughout the Inriver platform to solve real product information use cases.
Simplify the Complex: Smarter Workflows for Faster Results
Managing product information across multiple markets, channels, and categories is an operational headache for most large organizations. The next generation Inriver Workflow Builder is here to help. It brings more power, flexibility, and speed as you automate and orchestrate your enrichment, review, and publishing processes.
Instead of managing disconnected steps or manual approvals, teams can now design and visualize end-to-end workflows that move product data faster across the business. The intuitive drag-and-drop builder makes it simple to build even the most advanced automation logic. From category-specific enrichment to multi-market publishing, even non-technical team members can configure the workflows you need. Here’s a look at the new visual builder:
With support for conditional logic, branching paths, and a choice of real-time triggers, the updated Workflow engine helps you adapt instantly to changing business needs, eliminate bottlenecks, and accelerate time-to-market. And because it’s built on an AI-ready foundation, you can integrate intelligent agents – including the Inspire agents we launched in September - directly into your workflows to take automation and efficiency even further.

Speeding Your Complex Content Onboarding
The more complex your data model, the greater the challenge of onboarding and managing product information. This month, we’re enhancing Content Onboarding to give you more precision and flexibility over updates and entity relationships when bringing product data into your PIM.
When importing data, you can now select an UPDATE import mode, in addition to the existing UPSERT option. Choosing this mode eliminates the risk of accidentally creating duplicate or unwanted entities and improves trust and governance across large, collaborative teams onboarding data at scale.
At the same time, we’re simplifying how you manage complex product structures at scale, saving time, and improving data quality. An update to the Content Onboarding UI now allows you to add, update and delete the relationships between entities that are needed to maintain bundles, kits, categories, and other entity relationships.
Whether you’re controlling product-to-product, item-to-item, or channel-node assignments, you can do it during the import process, without time-consuming manual data entry or custom extensions. By applying bulk changes, you can mass link new product SKUS to corresponding product lines, unlink outdated products from seasonal campaigns, or update multiple channel nodes, all in one action. The time saved on manual updates is matched by a reduction in human error that can damage the consistency of your product information.
Together, these updates make onboarding faster, safer, and more scalable - empowering you to manage product data and relationships with confidence, accuracy, and control. These enhancements respond to customer feedback. Thank you to everyone who helped shape them.
