Channel Insights is where you gain insight into the category-level data of products, including out-of-stock status, visibility, price overview, rating count, and category ranking.
You configure Channel Insights using the available wizard. Once that is done, you can start monitoring several SKUs and channels from within the provided data lake or change the specific SKUs and websites as often as needed.
The search, filter, and sort capabilities allow you to find what you are interested in.
The Channel Insights dashboard
The dashboard comprises the Overview and the Category ranking tabs, as well as a Configure button that takes you to the wizard.
Only Channel Insights administrators have access to Configure. Ask your system admin to extend your permissions.
You can select between Channel Insights and Dashboard as the default tab using the START_PAGE setting in Control Center. See Available Server settings.
Overview tab

The Overview tab contains the following areas:
Percentages
-
Visibility percentage
The percentage of the products selected for analysis that are visible on the category page.
-
Stock percentage
The percentage of the products selected for analysis that are in stock at their chosen retailer.
-
Category percentage
The percentage of products that fall within the top 25 of their category on the site.
Columns
-

The title of the product listed on the site.
-
Retailer
The site the metrics are gathered from.
-
Visibility
If the selected product can still be found via the original product URL or not.
-
In stock
If the selected product is available to buy on the site or not. Different retailers might have different definitions of what in stock means. For example, in some retailers, you can preorder items, or there might be lead times for warehouse delivery.
-
Category rank
The ranking of the product within the Category name listed for that site.
-
Category name
The name of the category that the product is found in, including a link to the category page on the site.
-
Product link
A link to the product page on the site.
-
Price
The current price for the product on the site. This is not necessarily the unit price. For example, some retailers might offer bundled items.
-
Ratings
The current rating for the product on the site.
Category ranking tab
The Category ranking tab consists of three columns. In each column, there is a drop-down where you can choose a retailer, and one for a category. The retailer drop-down lists the retailers selected during configuration. The category drop-down lists categories that contain the brands you selected.

The options in Category ranking are defined by your selections during configuration using the available wizard.
In a category column,
Do the following:
- Select a retailer, using the drop-down.
- Select a category, using the drop-down.
Once you make your choices, the relevant column shows you the products that are ranking highest within that category for that particular retailer. Your brands are highlighted in green. Competitor brands that match what you chose during the configuration are highlighted in blue. Brands that are not being tracked are not highlighted. Products that you chose to track are shown in bold.
Limitations compared to Evaluate
Channel Insights allows you to choose SKUs from an existing data lake. You can complement your use of Channel Insights by adding Evaluate and gain the following options:
- Define your own SKUs and retailers.
- Tie the added SKUs and retailers to your products in inriver.
- Get actionability on content compliance.
