sections in the article
A Publication is an organized collection of Entities that you want to publish as printed material, using Print or Print 2.0 and Adobe inDesign®.
The content of a Publication is structured into Sections.
Publication and Sections are also the names of the relevant Entity types with built-in support in inriver.
Publications and Sections
The main difference between a Channel and a Publication is that a Publication is intended specifically for print in Adobe inDesign® while a Channel is about publishing Entities to places like marketplaces and webshops. Sections are the building blocks of Publications, so they are like Nodes in a Channel.
A Section can be just one page, a Lookup, 2-6 pages, or whatever you need for a particular part of your Publication.
- A Section ID must be unique and only contain the characters A-Z and 0-9.
- Section fields can also be used in InDesign as chapter text/images, product area information, etc. This requires a Custom Attribute to fetch this information.
- One Section should equal one InDesign document.
- Name your Sections in ways that are easy to find when searching.
- When working with large productions, use many Sections and multiple InDesign files.
- Keep Sections appropriately sized. Avoid using large Sections with hundreds of pages and thousands of Products or other Entities.
