This article describes how to work with publications in Plan & Release.
Publications
A publication is an organized collection of entities that you want to publish as a printed matter, using inriver Print or inriver Print 2.0 and Adobe inDesign®.
The content of a publication is structured into sections. Sections are the equivalent to nodes in a channel.
The main difference between a channel and a publication is that a publication is intended specifically for print in Adobe inDesign® while a channel is about publishing entities to other places like market places and webshops.
Note: inriver Print must be configured in Control Center > Print before you can start using all the Print features.
To create a publication
- In the Web Portal > Plan & Release, click the Create new entity
icon in the top navigation bar and select Publication.
- Fill out the fields in the Create Publication window that opens. Note that any field name that is followed by a * is mandatory. Note the title you give the publication.
- Click Save to close the dialog and return to the Plan & Release dashboard, where you get an overview of all available channels and publications.
- Click the publication that you just created. An overview of the publication is shown.
- Click the Structure tab at the top.
- Click the publication name.
- Click the Add
icon to add a new section.
Note: A section can be just one page, a Lookup, 2-6 pages, or whatever you need for a particular part of your publication.
- Fill out the fields in the Create Section window that opens.
Note: The ID must be a unique ID that only contains the allowed characters A-Z and digits 0-9.
- Click Save.
To add a section
To add a new section on the same level as the top section (node):
- In the Web Portal > Plan & Release, click the publication where you want to add a section.
- Click the Add
icon to add a new section and fill out the fields.
- Click Save.
To add a new section on the level below the top section (node):
- In the Web Portal > Plan & Release, click the publication where you want to add a section and make sure that the top section is selected.
- Click the Add
icon to add a new section and fill out the fields.
- Click Save.

To delete a publication
- In the Web Portal > Plan & Release, click the navigation menu (
) on the publication that you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
To delete publications (or sections) in bulk
- In the Web Portal > Plan & Release, click one of the publications that you want to delete.
- In the top left corner of the channel overview, click the Query Editor
icon to open the Query Editor.
- Use the Query Editor and search for Entity Type + Equals + Publication (or Section).
- Select the publications you wish to delete.
- Click Delete Selection in the navigation menu (
) of your Query results.
Note: Deleting a section this way will permanently delete it, as opposed to only removing the relation from a section without deleting it.
