Q: If I have a product with only one item inside inriver and no variant field specified (e.g. color, size, etc) or variant field specified but no field value. How do I map this to be a (standalone) Product in Salesforce?

A: In a scenario like this the value of the Product Id must be the same as the value of the Item Id. Since both are handled as product's inside Salesforce and since the inriver Salesforce cartridge runs with ImportMode=Merge they will be imported into the same product in Salesforce which will then be a (standalone) Product. 

Note. This only works if the cartridge runs in its standard and supported format. If the cartridge has been changed (unsupported) and the ImportMode is no longer set to Merge this will not work.
