This article is for those who are unable to import an excel-file into inriver, or for those who´s import does not accomplish the change they expected. Here are some common causes and how to solve them.
Invalid Excel column names
The top columns of the excel sheet will contain the sys_ids of each entity and the name of the entities FieldTypes.
Picture 1. An example of 2 entities with 1 LocaleString field consisting of 2 different languages.
In other words, the values in the top columns specify to which field each value is supposed to go on an entity.
Picture 2. In this example, the LocaleString field would get "Hello" inserted for its English field.
Things to keep in mind
- The most common cause for issues with the excel import is incorrect data. To be sure that you are using the proper format and data, try exporting some entities from inriver into an excel file.
- The content of this excel file will follow the correct format for an excel import.
- With 2 excel files, you should be able to see if there are any major differences that could cause problems.
