Inriver is moving towards more incremental, smaller releases to better and faster accommodate our customers. With smaller, more frequent releases, Inriver will be able to increase the quality and transparency of the releases and identify and mitigate any erroneous behavior that may be caused by the release much faster.

Media Asset Experience Modernization & Media Asset CDN
New Feature - Media Asset CDN
Media Asset CDN lets you deliver product images, videos, and documents to external channels through a global content delivery network (CDN) instead of directly from Inriver's asset service. It's a paid add-on, enabled per environment, and requires Media Asset Experience Modernization (below) to already be active in your environment. To get it enabled, contact Inriver support or your Customer Success Manager.
Media Asset CDN
Media now serves product images, videos, and documents directly from Inriver through a global content delivery network (CDN), giving external channels fast, reliable access to the same Inriver-hosted assets. Each asset gets a stable URL that stays consistent over time, so external systems can reference it with confidence. The PIM Portal also uses the CDN to render media, improving load performance both inside the Portal and on external channels. There's no new UI: existing ways of uploading, transforming, and downloading assets are unchanged.
Media Asset CDN is a paid add-on, activated per environment, and requires the new Media Asset Experience to already be enabled first. Activation includes a one-time migration of existing assets to their new URLs — no re-upload or action in the PIM Portal is needed, but customers should identify any downstream system that stores or hardcodes existing asset URLs before the migration window, since those URLs do change.
Who benefits: Customers distributing assets to external channels at scale — fast, reliable delivery with no infrastructure to build or operate, and durable URLs with no broken links or duplicated storage across channels.
Access: Enabled per environment as a paid add-on; requires Media Asset Experience Modernization to be active first. No new user permission is introduced.
New Features - Media Asset Experience Modernization
Media Asset Experience Modernization refreshes how media is managed across the Media tab and everywhere assets are uploaded, bringing the improvements below. It's available to all Inriver customers at no extra charge, but it isn't switched on automatically — contact Inriver support or your Customer Success Manager when you're ready to have it enabled for your environment. Once enabled, the new experience replaces the current Media tab for each entity and the current upload screens; assets and links already in place are not affected.
Table view with search, sort, and filter
Media assets can now be viewed as a table as well as a grid, with built-in sorting and filtering. Search and filter are also available directly in the grid view.
On products with hundreds of attached assets, this lets users isolate the subset they need instead of scrolling — the difference between the Media tab being usable and unusable at scale.
Who benefits: Anyone managing products with large numbers of attached assets.
Access: Available from the Media tab in PIM Portal.
Classic Enhancements
Media now includes an in-product image editor, opened from a new Classic Enhancements tab in the media asset detail view. Users can preview edits live, then choose what happens next: Reset discards the changes, Download exports a copy without touching the original, Save as New keeps the original untouched and creates a separate asset, and Save overwrites the original.
The editor covers six areas: Transform (rotate clockwise/counter-clockwise, flip horizontal/vertical), Resize (to original or predefined sizes, with fit, crop, or stretch), Adjustments (brightness, contrast, saturation, blur, hue rotate), Filters (grayscale, sepia, invert colours), Watermark (text watermark with control over font, colour, placement, size, opacity and rotation, or an image watermark such as a logo), and Classic Effects (sharpen, adaptive sharpen, normalize, oil paint, charcoal, auto level, auto gamma).
Note: Applies to image formats only — video, PDF, and Office files remain preview-only. There's no edit history; Save as New is the way to preserve an earlier version.
Who benefits: Marketers and product owners who need a channel-ready, watermarked, correctly sized asset in seconds — without a designer, a desktop editing licence, or a download-edit-reupload cycle.
Access: Available from the media asset detail view in PIM Portal — Media management, gated behind a new MediaAssetClassicEnhancements permission. Save and Save as New also require existing edit/create permissions on the entity.
Full-screen view
The media asset window can now be opened in full screen for a larger working view.
Who benefits: Anyone reviewing or working closely with an asset's details.
Access: Available from the media asset modal in PIM Portal — Media management.
In-browser preview
Files can now be previewed directly in the browser, with no download required. Previews cover images, video, PDF (browsable page by page, in its original format), and documents such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Who benefits: Anyone reviewing or approving assets — no more downloading a file just to check its contents, which shortens review loops and cuts clutter on local machines.
Access: Available from the media asset modal in PIM Portal — Media management.
Replace a media asset and keep the same asset URL
Media now includes a Replace file (same URL) option, letting users replace the file behind a media asset while keeping its existing URL intact — available from the Media tab alongside the existing Replace file functionality.
For customers using the Media Asset CDN, the cache is purged automatically when this option is used, so external references pick up the new file without any link updates. The change reflects immediately inside PIM Portal; other systems referencing the asset may need their own cache cleared, depending on how those systems are configured.
Note: The replacement file must have the same file name — otherwise a new resource is created instead. CDN propagation takes approximately 10–30 minutes.
Who benefits: Customers who syndicate or hardcode asset URLs into storefronts, feeds, or marketing pages — a file can be corrected or updated without breaking live links or triggering manual reference cleanup, reducing support load.
Access: Available from the Media tab in PIM Portal — Media management.
Multi-select and bulk delete
Users can now select multiple assets and delete the selection in one action. Shift-click selects a contiguous range, and Ctrl-click selects individual assets, matching the standard convention for selecting files in a folder.
Housekeeping that used to be a one-by-one click-through becomes a single operation, making it easier to keep the asset library clean.
Who benefits: Anyone maintaining a media library — makes bulk cleanup practical rather than tedious.
Access: Available from the Media tab in PIM Portal. Existing “DeleteEntity” permission is required.
Reordering media assets
The display order of media assets can now be changed directly on the Media tab, without needing to open Includes.
Who benefits: Anyone curating asset order for a product — a quicker path to reordering than the previous Includes-based workflow.
Improved media upload
Uploading media to a single entity now comes with a progress tracker. Once your files have been sent, you can close the upload window and carry on working while the tracker follows each file through to completion.
Mass upload via Import works as before, with two new improvements: you can continue adding files throughout the same upload session, even while other files are already being uploaded, and you can rename and retry all files at once when changes are needed.
This matters most when volumes are highest, such as when onboarding a new range or preparing for a seasonal launch, where large batches previously kept users on the upload screen until everything had finished.
Who benefits: Anyone uploading media in volume — especially during onboarding or seasonal launches, when upload sizes peak.
Access: Available wherever media is uploaded in PIM Portal — single-entity media upload and mass upload via Import>Upload Media.
Asset URLs for every variation
Users can now copy the link to a single asset, or copy the links for all of its predefined variations at once — making it easier to get the right URLs to downstream channels, websites, and Partners without copying each variation individually.
Who benefits: Anyone distributing assets downstream — Partners, channel teams, and website teams needing the correct variation URL.
Access: Available from the asset detail view in PIM Portal — Media management.
