Inriver continues to lead the PIM field in applying Artificial Intelligence to solve real product content challenges. We know all organizations are looking for ways to leverage AI technology effectively. This ranges from streamlining data ingestion, to improving data quality, and saving time and money with process automation - including content creation and translation. At the same time, preserving trust, quality, and control is essential,
In this article, we summarize the most recently added features within the Inriver PIM and how they can help you safely and efficiently make the most of AI technologies within your business.
Most of these enhancements are within Inriver Inspire which brings the power of generative AI to your content onboarding, creation and enrichment processes. However, you’ll also find information about additions like our support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) which will help every Inriver customer more effectively share their product information with downstream AI tools like chatbots, recommendation engines and more.
Here’s a deep dive into each of these new features and how they can help you:
Inspire Support For Documents As Context (Added March 2025)
As AI-powered search increases demands for richer, more detailed product content, we’ve expanded Inspire coverage to accept documents as source material for AI content generation. AI-generated content is only as good as the context behind it. Now technical specifications, compliance files, and installation guides can be used as context by Inspire, alongside text and images. Supported document formats include PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, TXT, and CSV.
There’s no need to manually extract and re-key the information they contain. If they’re in your PIM, Inspire can mine them for information. Product attributes get captured faster, and more efficiently. The richer data input means more accurate, detailed product content that converts across channels and languages, at scale.
Refine Content at Scale with Enhance Agent (Added November 2025)
Take the manual effort out of optimizing your product content with our new AI enhance agent in your workflows. This Inspire agent automatically fixes grammar flaws, simplifies complex product descriptions, and turns factual feature lists into compelling copy that converts, or apply your custom rewriting instructions.
You can automatically strengthen the overall quality of your product information, no matter how many SKUs and data fields you’re managing. And it works directly inside Inspire workflows, so you can do it all without exporting data to any external editing tools or LLMs. Just configure your prompts and get a steady flow of accurate, channel-ready content.
Choose from the preset options like fix grammar, simplify text, and improve writing or provide custom rewrite instructions tailored to your brand tone or regional requirements. The agent can transform factual lists into more engaging product descriptions, clarify technical information, and ensure language is polished across large volumes of content.
The Enhance Agent is available now for customers using Inspire and Workflows.
Protect Brand Language at Scale with Automated Terminology Enforcement (Added November 2025)
Consistent, brand-approved language is essential when managing product information across multiple markets. To help teams maintain accuracy without increasing review workloads, Inspire now supports language-specific Terms Lists that automatically enforce your approved terminology during post-translation processing. This ensures product names, technical phrases, symbols, and trademarked language always appear exactly as intended, reducing the risk of misinterpretation or brand drift as content is localized.
Terms Lists build on the Glossaries functionality introduced in September (covered later in this article), which lets you define preferred wording across source and target languages. While Glossaries guide the translation itself, Terms Lists add an additional layer of quality control by checking the final output in each language and replacing any non-approved wording according to your rules. The result is more reliable multilingual content that stays aligned with brand, regulatory, and market expectations — with far less manual QA.
Once enabled, administrators can upload and manage Terms Lists for each language directly within Inspire. The system then applies these rules automatically whenever AI translation runs, ensuring consistent terminology across all localized product content. Terms Lists are available now for Inspire customers, and future releases will extend their use into additional PIM workflows.
If you’re already using Inspire AI Translate, here’s you can get started with Glossaries and terms lists.
Speedy, effortless automation of enrichment processes with new AI co-pilot (released October 2025)
Writing Expressions to automate your product enrichment is easier, faster and more accurate with our in-context AI agent to support you in optimizing your formulas.
We’ve been consistently delighted by the rate at which the Inriver community has embraced the endless flexibility of Expression Engine since we launched it in 2024. However, it can be tricky for non-technical team members to get the formulas right when the pace of change in commerce requires increasingly complex data transformations.
The new, built-in AI co-pilot turns every member of your team into expression-writing experts overnight. Simply describe what you want in plain language, and the Agent will generate, explain, and validate your formula in seconds. It all happens in context, right where you’re working on automation logic – in the Inriver portal or Control Center.
Beyond saving time, the Agent can also improve data quality by helping eliminate errors and validating outputs before expressions go live. And because no coding skills are required, you can get more of your team involved in creating expressions. Learn more in our how-to guide.
The Agent is available to all Inriver customers who’ve licensed Inspire. Please contact your CSM to enable this feature in your environment.
Faster, Smarter Content Onboarding with AI-powered mapping and data validation (released September 2025)
If you’ve licensed Inspire, you can now use AI intelligence to reduce the manual effort involved in mapping and validating data that’s uploaded through Content Onboarding. The AI will automatically identify matches between incoming data fields and your existing data model, meaning you only have to confirm and accept the mapping rather than scroll through to find the relevant fields.
At the same time, the AI data validation helps you to spot mistakes and helpfully suggests transformations that will ensure the data points you onboard match your requirements. You’ll always get the chance to approve the AI’s suggestions before you bring the data into your PIM.

If you’re already using Inspire, you should see the AI features available in Content Onboarding straight away. If you’re not using Inspire or Content Onboarding yet, please contact your Customer Success Manager for information on how to activate them.
Seamlessly Integrate AI Content Generation into Your Automated Workflows for Faster, Multi-Lingual Processes (released September 2025)
Workflows are the smarter way to ensure everyone in your organization is acting in a timely manner to optimize your product information throughout the product lifecycle. The simple workflow builder allows authorized users to configure chains of assignments that are automatically assigned to individuals or teams within your business when there’s work that needs their attention. Now, we’ve added two powerful AI agents that can also be given assignments as part of an automated workflow, speeding the time to market for your multi-language content.
Use the Inspire Generate Agent if you want content to be automatically created by Inspire when specific criteria are met. The generated content can then be automatically assigned to a human for checking.
Use the Inspire Translate Agent when you want existing product content to be created in multiple languages using pre-defined Inspire translation settings. Again, you can configure a human-in-the-loop approval step as part of your workflow.
The combination of workflows and Inspire enables the streamlined, scalable, and fully automated creation of multilingual content. Find out how to add these new agents in your workflows.
If you’re already using Workflows and Inspire, please raise a support ticket to request the enablement of Inspire Agents in your environment. To add Inspire and Workflows to your PIM, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
Create On-Brand AI Content Without Prompt Engineering (released September 2025)
Writing effective AI prompts can be time-consuming and typically requires specialized skills. The latest Inspire release solves that challenge, enabling everyone in your team to generate professional, on-brand content instructions without needing to master prompt engineering. Two new features make this possible and they’re available to customer with Inspire from today:
- AI-Supported Prompt Engineering guides you through creating detailed instructions for different content types such as product descriptions, marketing copy, or translations. The AI suggests a first version of the prompt, so you can focus on refining rather than starting from scratch. Learn how it works.
- AI-Generated Brand Writing Style Guidelines ensure all content produced with Inspire reflects your brand’s voice and tone. Simply upload existing brand guidelines or sample text. Inspire will generate a reusable brand system prompt to guide future content creation.
Both new features can be configured by your Inspire Admins to reduce the burden on all your PIM users. They will accelerate content creation, reduce reliance on manual writing and editing, and make AI more accessible to non-technical users. The result is faster, more consistent, and more effective product content at scale.
Ensure Translation Accuracy With AI-Powered Glossaries (released September 2025)
Consistent terminology is essential for building trust across languages, but sometimes Large Language Models (LLMs) will apply direct translations to key terminology which limits the value of the created content for your business. With the new Glossaries feature in Inspire AI Translate, you can define and enforce the exact terms your brand requires - from product category names to trademarked terms. This ensures translations are accurate, consistent, and on-brand every time. Key capabilities include:
- Flexible glossary support: Upload industry-standard formats (.csv, .tbx, .tmx, .xlf, .xliff) or manage terms directly through an intuitive UI.
- Centralized management: Access all glossaries in one dashboard, with tools to filter, edit, and manage multilingual or monolingual term lists.
- Workflow Agent-ready: Glossaries are used by the Inspire Translate Agent inside your workflow.
By reducing manual edits and ensuring brand-specific terminology is always applied, Glossaries help you deliver faster, more accurate multilingual content at scale.
If you’re already using Inspire AI Translate, here’s how you can begin exploring Glossaries today.
Choose the Right AI Model for Every Task with Support for the Latest GPT-5 Variants (released September 2025)
Different product content tasks call for different kinds of intelligence. That’s why Inspire now supports two new lightweight variants of the GPT-5 family: GPT-5-mini and GPT-5-nano. These new variants were introduced by OpenAI in August 2025 and are available through our collaboration with Microsoft Azure. The extensibility of Inspire ensures it’s easy for you to quickly access the latest LLM models. Here’s when to use which one:
- GPT-5-mini delivers deeper reasoning and structured outputs, ideal for complex content generation, nuanced translations, or tasks requiring multimodal comprehension (text + images).
- GPT-5-nano is optimized for speed and scale, providing ultra-responsive results for high-throughput scenarios like rapid translation, classification, or simple content creation.
Both models can handle large product datasets without compromise.
With the flexibility to choose these new variants, you can match the right model to the job, balancing speed, reasoning depth, and efficiency for every process. PIM Admins can enable GPT-5-mini or GPT-5-nano directly within Inspire’s configuration screens. To find out how, see our guide to configuring Inspire's text generation settings as an Inspire Admin.

Yes, I agree! Also the links in the part: "Create on-brand AI content without prompt engineering" seems wrong. The first one links the the article about normal customization of prompts and the second one leads to an article about using glossaries for translations, maybe the one you looked for Peter Norlander (ICP)?
Hey, really interesting stuff! Thanks!
I noticed that it looks like the link "here’s how you can begin exploring Glossaries today." isn't published yet. I can't access the page that it links to.
Haha, thanks Anette Olofsson - that appears to be the one! :)
Hi Anette Olofsson
Regarding the first link, the information about using AI to create and refine prompts is in that article, it's just a little further down the page if you keep scrolling! You'll find sections entitled "Using the AI prompt generator to create a new custom prompt" and "Enhancing an existing prompt with AI."
Regarding the second link, you're correct, the glossaries link was used here in error. We have removed it. A guide on how to use brand style guides with Inspire will follow shortly. Thanks for your interest in Inspire!
Thank you Beccy Johnston now it is visible, didn't see that part yesterday.
